Achilles tendon injuries are very common in active people, especially runners, soccer players, basketball players, golfers, and athletes who do a lot of jumping, sprinting, cutting, walking, and repetitive loading.

Research shows Achilles tendon rupture has increased over time, reaching about 31.1 cases per 100,000 person-years in the 2020s, and around 68% of Achilles ruptures are connected with sports participation, especially ball and racquet sports. Another U.S. study found sport or recreational activity was the most common mechanism, accounting for 81.9% of Achilles tendon ruptures in their data.

Why does this happen?

Because the Achilles tendon and calf muscles are part of the full lower-body chain. If one side is weak and the other side is overloaded, the body starts compensating. One calf may not activate well. One ankle may be stiff. The foot may not push off correctly. Then the Achilles tendon takes too much stress.

At LifeRX Agency, we don’t just look at the painful spot. We check the full lower extremity:

Ankle mobility Calf strength Peroneal muscle function Tibialis anterior strength Foot and ankle stability Left-right balance

Your ankle needs to move well and your lower-leg muscles need to support the tendon. If your ankle is stiff, weak, or unstable, you may keep dealing with pain, tightness, and repeated injury.

This class is for athletes, runners, and active people who want to understand how the calf, ankle, and Achilles tendon work together.

Check the ankle. Strengthen the calf. Protect the Achilles.
