Knee pain, swelling, and discomfort are very common — but sometimes the knee is only the place where you feel the problem.

Your ankle, foot, hip mobility, walking pattern, muscle strength, and overall leg alignment can all change how forces travel through the knee. If the ankle is unstable or the hip is not moving and controlling the leg well, the knee may have to compensate and take extra stress.

That can show up as stiffness, swelling, discomfort, or pain around the knee.

In this video, Yuri from Life RX Wellness shows a few simple movements and exercises to help you understand how the ankle, knee, and hip work together.

The important thing is: don’t guess.

If your knee is swollen, painful, unstable, locking, giving way, or the symptoms keep returning, get evaluated by a qualified healthcare professional. Imaging such as an MRI can be very useful for certain meniscus, ligament, cartilage, or other soft-tissue problems, but whether you need an MRI should be decided after a proper clinical examination.

Don’t keep loading a painful knee and hope it disappears.

Check the ankle. Check the hip. Check the way you move. Then treat the whole chain.

If you are in Los Angeles or Glendale, Life RX Wellness can help with postural assessment, PhysioMassage, manual therapy, mobility, stability, and corrective movement.

Take care of your knees before pain takes you away from the activities you love.
